Op een zonovergoten zaterdag, 2 mei 2026, stond Het Noordsche Bosch in het teken van internationale sport en gezelligheid tijdens een zogenaamde Three Nations Cup. Teams uit Duitsland en Engeland reisden af naar Nederland om samen met de thuisploeg een reeks onderlinge wedstrijden te spelen.

De Engelse delegatie kwam uit Nottingham en trad aan onder de naam Hucknall Waterpolo Club, vanuit München was het Duitse team Luftschnapper München aanwezig. Uiteraard vertegenwoordigde SDOB zelf Nederland als gastheer van het toernooi.

De teams bestonden uit spelers in verschillende leeftijdscategorieën – senioren, 35+ en 45+ – wat zorgde voor een mooie mix van ervaring, fanatisme en sportiviteit. Er werd gestreden om een felbegeerde beker, en hoewel deze dag geen verliezers kende, was het uiteindelijk de ploeg uit Engeland die er met de hoofdprijs vandoor ging.

Na afloop van de wedstrijden werd het sportieve deel naadloos omgezet in een gezellige derde helft. Onder het genot van heerlijk eten, drankjes en stralend lenteweer werd er volop nagepraat en gelachen. De internationale vriendschappen werden verder versterkt, precies waar dit toernooi voor bedoeld is.

De winnaars van de beker mogen volgend jaar het toernooi organiseren. Dat betekent dat de Three Nations Cup in 2027 naar alle waarschijnlijkheid zal plaatsvinden in Nottingham.

Een grote dank gaat uit naar alle spelers en in het bijzonder naar onze gasten uit Nottingham en München voor hun komst en enthousiasme. Het was een geslaagd evenement die zeker naar meer smaakt!

On a sun-soaked Saturday, May 2, 2026, Het Noordsche Bosch was the setting for international sport and camaraderie during the so-called Three Nations Cup. Teams from Germany and England traveled to the Netherlands to play a series of matches alongside the home team.

The English delegation came from Nottingham and competed under the name Hucknall Waterpolo Club, while the German team Luftschnapper München made the journey from Munich. Naturally, SDOB represented the Netherlands as the host of the tournament.

The teams consisted of players from various age categories—seniors, 35+, and 45+—creating a great mix of experience, competitiveness, and sportsmanship. A coveted trophy was at stake, and although there were no real losers that day, it was ultimately the English team that deservedly took home the main prize.

After the matches, the sporting event smoothly transitioned into a lively social gathering. With great food, drinks, and beautiful spring weather, there was plenty of time to relax, chat, and laugh together. International friendships were strengthened—exactly what this tournament is all about.

The winners of the trophy will have the honor of organizing next year’s tournament, which means the Three Nations Cup will most likely take place in Nottingham in 2027.
